Congratulations 5th Grade Quest!
Sussex Avenue School’s Fifth Grade Quest students traveled to the New Jersey State Bar Foundation in New Brunswick, NJ to present their mock trial, “The Case of the Sickening Chocolate.” This case was awarded one of 16 awards presented at the Law Fair Competition, which received 172 submissions. The eight children in the Quest class are pictured with Mrs. Brown and the Honorable Bradley Ferencz, who presided over the trial.

African-American Heritage Museum

The Sussex Avenue School African-American Heritage Museum is a collection of student work that celebrates the accomplishments of African-Americans.  Teachers were asked to submit work inspired by the lessons about Black Americans that they shared with their classes. The exhibits ranged from beautiful reproductions of masterpieces by African-American artists to inspirational speeches and biographies. As the curators of the museum, Mrs. Macchia's class collected the work from the other classes, set up the installations and labeled them. The work that the Sussex Stars produced really shows their appreciation for and understanding of the role of African-Americans in the formation of our country.
